This deworming programmes, which was administered in the fist quarter of 2019, was a huge success in the focal communities with a therapeutic coverage of 80%.

COMMONWEALTH Project

NTDs have an enormous impact on individuals, families and communities in Nigeria because of disease burden, loss of productivity, the aggravation of poverty and the high cost of long-term care. The goal of COMMONWEALTH/Accelerate project is to contribute to the elimination of NTDs and to achieve NTD elimination milestone. The project aims to provide access to NTD treatments through mass medicine administration approach and TT surgery.

DFAT Project

The DFAT-funded project in the state focused on the control of Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis in ten (10) systematically selected LGAs of Jigawa State. The basis for inclusion in as a focal community included the vulnerability of such community to the disease, the extent of effect on social livelihood and the level of spread.
