VISION
Quality Life with Equal Opportunities in an Inclusive Society.
Welcome to Health and Development Support Programme (HANDS).
HANDS is a team of motivated professionals, promoting good health in the very poor communities and rural areas in parts of Nigeria. We are supported by the Nigerian government at the Federal and state levels, as well as donors such as Sightsavers, CBM Global, CBM International and MiracleFeet.
We work through local communities, by ways of advocacy, sensitization and mobilization. We promote good health using activities targeting Reproductive Health and Gender Mainstreaming, Eye Health Care, Clubfoot treatment and management, Disability Inclusive Development, Inclusive Emergency Response, Mental Health, Inclusive WASH and the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
Our technical support includes areas of distribution of essential medicines in endemic communities, cataract, lid and hydrocele surgeries, lymphedema management amongst others and clubfoot treatment and management using the ponseti method.
HANDS focus and expertise include advocacy, technical and managerial support, community mobilization and sensitization, personnel training, drug distribution, monitoring, supervision and evaluation of activities related to Trachoma, Schistosomiasis, Soil-Transmitted Helminths, Lymphatic Filariasis, Low Vision and Primary Eye Care Services. The organization is equipped to take up other health and development intervention programmes that would improve the quality of life of the people in the society.
Health and Development Support Programme is partnering with the Government of Kano, Jigawa, Yobe and FCT (Abuja) in the control and elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) using mass drug distribution through local health agents and community volunteers.
Through this programme, local communities are empowered to fight NTDs in their villages, relieving suffering and slowing the transmission of the disease. The organization also provides medical eye care services through Primary Eye Care programmes including community low vision services, cataract and lid surgery, outreach camps, and training of community based medical eye care personnel.
There is no compromise in care
