Magajiya's life was marked by adversity. She was widowed at age 30 and has been the sole guardian of her seven children. She also has a condition called Lymphedema, which is the swelling of tissue due to retention of fluid in the lymph vessels. As part of the global #16DaysOfActivism campaign, HANDS Nigeria, alongside the Nigerian Air Force Officers' Wives Association, the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, and the Fédération Internationale des Avocats, took to the streets to create awareness under the theme: Unite to End Violence Against Women, Girls, Boys, and Men.
